We know you’ve heard it a million times, but we only care so much about brushing and flossing because it really is the best way to keep your smile (and in turn your whole body) healthy. We would be happy to show you the proper techniques for maximum effectiveness.
Our hygiene team provides gentle yet thorough cleanings to take care of any plaque or tartar you’ve left behind, but the other 363 days of the year it’s up to you to put in the work. We are always happy to recommend homecare products for your individual needs.
Gum Disease
Gum disease increases your risk for systemic illnesses like heart disease & Alzheimer’s.
This is when brushing and flossing gets serious. The consequence of a cavity here and there might not be a huge deal, but considering gum disease is linked to over 52 serious systemic health problems, we can’t emphasize the importance of oral health enough.
The good news is, at Greenway Village Dental, you’ve got an exceptional team on your side to help you prevent or treat gum disease. We provide scaling and root planing in-office, which is essentially a deep cleaning below the gumline to remove tartar and infected tissues. If your gums bleed during flossing it means you have gingivitis and you should come see us right away for a plan of action.
Oral Cancer Screenings
Oral cancer is one of the deadliest forms of cancer, and rates are on the rise.
Oral cancer has one of the highest mortality rates because it is typically not detected until it’s progressed into late-stage, when often times it’s too late. We know this sounds grim, and it is, but there is a silver lining here in the fact that we use advanced technology to detect oral cancer.
Our Identafi® oral cancer screening device helps us visually enhance biochemical and morphological abnormalities to detect potentially cancerous cells before they may be visible otherwise. Whether you fall into any of the high-risk categories (HPV now leads these risk factors) or you just want peace of mind, we would be happy to screen you for oral cancer on your next visit.
Mouthguards & Nightguards

You may not think of your teeth as some of your most valuable assets—that is until they go missing or become worn down to stubs. We don’t want this to happen to you, so we’re happy to offer custom athletic mouthguards for athletes and nightguards for teeth grinders and TMJ sufferers.
There are plenty of store-bought options out there that you might consider, including stock and boil-and-bite mouthguards, but these are not made to fit your mouth and they’re made from lower-grade materials that wear out quickly. Only a custom mouthguard provides the best fit, optimum comfort, and the highest level of protection. They may even minimize damage from concussions during sports impacts.
Protective Dental Sealants
An added layer of protection to seal out acid erosion and prevent cavity formation.
We do our best to provide thorough education and preventive care to help our patients avoid tooth decay, but some people are just more prone to decay than others, and there are many factors in play. Sometimes we need a little extra help to seal the deal.
Dental sealants are typically recommended to children because they’re more cavity-prone than adults, and they’re typically applied on the back molars that are also more cavity-susceptible. However, we can also use sealants for cavity-prone adults on whatever teeth need it. Sealants have been shown to reduce tooth decay by up to 60%!
Mercury Filling Removal
You don’t have to settle for old amalgam fillings and unsightly dark spots.
You may have grown accustomed to seeing those metallic dark spots when you open your mouth—remnants of dentistry’s past. But there are many reasons you may want to consider having old metal fillings removed.
The most obvious being aesthetic—a seamless, natural-looking smile is preferable and attainable. They also tend to expand and contract with temperature changes, so it would be wise to evaluate the integrity of the filling. However, sometimes things happen, and having a tooth extracted may be in your best interest. We provide routine extractions and wisdom teeth extractions from the comfort of your dental home.
Do you have a tooth that’s badly broken or decayed and is past the point of repair with a crown? Do you have an infection inside a tooth, or a failed root canal?
